Miramar, Florida – Sealand – A Maersk Company was named winner of a GOLD, 2 SILVER, and 1 BRONZE Stevie® in the Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year category in The 18th Annual International Business Awards®.
Recognized as a force for education, Sealand’s partnership with non-profit Enseña Perú took GOLD for providing some continuity in education for students at Fernando Belaúnde Terry Elementary School in Callao, Peru.
The partnership pivoted, remained at the forefront, and innovated to address challenges in a region very hard hit by the pandemic. The judges recognized the team for “an outstanding partnership initiative”, founded on “collaboration to share educational content and meet outreach and engagement objectives.”
Sealand’s partnership with TECHO in Honduras won SILVER for delivering a new, primary school in the community of La Venada and for securing additional collaborators to ensure the children and school were equipped with all that was needed.
Congratulations to this team for engaging community members in planning and construction phases, and for obtaining commitment that school operations would be sustained moving forward. The team achieved all objectives in Year 1, despite the almost immediate onset of the pandemic at project start, and back-to-back hurricanes ETA and IOTA late in 2020.
The judges commended the team for “providing a collaboration and delivery that will affect the lives of the community. This collaboration for education was well planned, defined with a strategic objective with an excellent outcome. The team harnessed a wonderful successful delivery.”
Recognized by the judges for “tangible results that helped increase levels of food security amongst families during a vulnerable time for the world”, Sealand’s partnership in Chile with non-profit Huertas Comunitarias won BRONZE. During the pandemic, this team successfully converted a planned in-school garden program to a “Home Garden Challenge” through virtual engagement with families served by two schools, an initiative that was uniting for families and that has been providing them with a healthy and productive outlet during the pandemic.
The overall community program won SILVER, with judges commenting, “the CSR program was well delivered with strategic planning, objectives, communications planning, partnership development and an excellent program delivery. The partnership development and outreach to deliver resources to communities during the pandemic was outstanding. The education programs and leadership activation were smart, innovative, and engaging. The outreach and the mobility of the programs were wonderful, and the lasting effect was outstanding. This is a great example of how a longstanding commitment to community service can really pay off. A first real COVID-19 pivot case study showing CSR in action. Well done!”
Congratulations to 82 employees who have led local partnerships since program start in 2015, to the majority of the company’s workforce that remain committed to long-term community partnerships, to many employees who newly joined and contributed over the past year, and to the company’s dynamic and innovative non-profit partners.
As Sealand’s community program implementation partner, our team at The Collaboration Vector is delighted to have the company’s efforts recognized, and to celebrate its people in the office and in the community.
